Mechanical Engineer - Design Projects

* Contract rates Negotiable
* Approx 20 Hours per week.
* Ongoing work 1+ years

They are currently looking to establish a long term relationship with a Mechanical Engineering contractor for the purposes of outsourcing mechanical design projects. Principle duties of the contractor will be to handle design and modification projects of a mechanical nature in support of our range of medium voltage overhead switchgear and control products. The role primarily will be in support of our Engineering and Research and Development department mechanical engineering teams to handle workload overflow. Workload will be varied, but will probably average at least 20 hours per week.
Principal Duties

* Model, design, prototype and test mechanisms, enclosures, brackets and tooling to specifications.
* Work closely with the Engineering and R&D department staff to obtain successful outcomes
Bring concept level designs to completion.
* Work with subcontractors and suppliers during the prototyping phase.
* Complete Material Suitability & Selection Studies.
* Design embodiment and analysis
* Development and evaluation of prototypes
* Ensure tolerance loops are acceptable and manufacturing tolerances are achievable
* Follow our design approval procedures

Key Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will:

* Have a proven track record in mechanism and sheet metal enclosure design.
* Experience in medium voltage switchgear design is desirable but not mandatory.
* Proficient in Pro-Engineer and Pro-mechanica.

An hourly or daily rate will be negotiated based on experience.
